As an ACM SIGGRAPH member since 2013, and computer animator inspired by wildlife, I have aspired to help advance the craft of creature design and creature visual effects for interactive multimedia and motion pictures.
Student to Studio Animation
Back on the East coast in the summer of 2011 ― back from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, following a bachelor of information technology (IT) and an advanced diploma in interactive multimedia and design (IMD) in collaboration with Algonquin College ― then, at an augmented reality (AR) app studio, I was technical director of animation and design: I worked with the management team to establish in-house graphic design by Spring of 2012, with the marketing team to introduce a visual identity for the studio, with the development team to optimize graphic art for Unity 3D, and with the Maya animation team to re-create characters and models for AR apps for Disney, Mattel, Mazda and more, and it was crazy cool.
“Dane is a team player and a great creative mind. He is always willing to work closely with our development teams to ensure projects don't just meet client expectations, but exceed them. He goes above and beyond in delivering high quality work. His portfolio at [Current Studios] speaks for itself.”―Matt Fegan, VP Operations, Current Studios
“Dane is brilliant. Living in the Augmented Reality space he's figured out how to map artistry and creativity over everyday life. He's passionate about what he does, and adopts every project as his own. To top it all off he gets the technical side too.”―Jonathan Burns, (former) VP Sales, Current Studios
